Nice guys no problem 💯

I needed 4 new tires for my 1997 John Deer tractor. They were able to get me the tires for my tractor and reuse the liquid ballast. That is good. They did not realize the tires that they ordered needed tubes. This delayed the installation. They ordered the wrong front tires. This further delayed installation. Once they got all the tires and tubes, they installed the tires according to my instruction. That is good. When I went to pickup the tractor right at opening time of 8:00 am they were still in an all-employee meeting and I needed to wait about 5-10 minutes. Not a big deal, but is this putting the customer first? As I was being waited on at about 8:15 am one of the employees came to the counter to clock in. (All employees should be paid for attending mandatory meetings and should have clocked in before the meeting). As they were ringing me up, I was informed that they add a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. This was the first time I heard of this even though I had spoken to them twice while getting prices, once when I dropped my tractor off, and another 3 times during the tube/tire size debacle. They left a voice mail to let me know it was ready and did not mention the 3% surcharge. I could have and would have brought a check, but I did not have one. So I paid the extra 3%. What is mind boggling is their own invoice states "Credit card payments subject to a 1.5% surcharge". I then looked at the bill. 2 units (hours) at $160 (hour) to install the front tires. OK. But the back tires the labor charge was 1 unit at $494.40. I questioned this and then they called the tech that worked on it and they said they had 3 hours of labor on the back tires. This works out to be $164.80/hour. When I asked what their shop rate was, they said the extra $4.80/hour was due to (now get this) their "Labor Matrix". They did offer to refund me my $14.40, but I declined. The could tell I was unhappy. The offer discounts to veterans and other groups, but not to customers that they cause to have a bad experience. Will I go back? I dunno. I chose them simply because they were closer. I have heard good things about tire service companies in Kittanning, PA. Maybe I need to explore other options next time. Their tag line is: "The Tire People with a Conscience". I will let you decide.

Tim we'll help you decide one unknown you brought up in your review: "Will I go back? I dunno". We suggest that you do not. We appreciate the order, but we simply have no interest in dealing with you any further. Some of the items you bring up in your review are correct, and some are not. However, we will not argue with you over the Internet.

The team at Skander is awesome! We got a flat on the interstate at 2pm on a Friday; while on our way to a family reunion. We arrived by 3pm on a donut and the Skander team had us back on the road with four new tires by 4pm for a reasonable cost. They are wonderful and Alex was such a pleasure to work with. Don’t hesitate!

Very helpful and friendly staff… shout out to Ian for helping me out in a tough situation

Thanks so much for the kind review Matt! I'll share this with Ian!

Great service.very efficient, knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.

I cannot thank Skander Tire Service enough for the incredible service they provided during a very stressful situation. My mom and dad were stranded more than 1,300 miles from home, and despite how extremely busy they were, the team took the time to help them when they needed it most. That level of compassion and customer care is something you don’t see every day. Before finding Skander Tire Service, they had gone to another repair shop in town that gave them an estimate of $7,000 for the repair. Being so far from home made them feel vulnerable, and it was an incredibly discouraging experience. Thankfully, they found Skander Tire Service, and everything changed. They were treated with honesty, respect, and fairness instead of feeling like someone was trying to profit from their difficult situation. Ian, the service advisor, was absolutely amazing. He was kind, professional, honest, and kept my parents informed every step of the way. Even with a full schedule, he made them feel like their situation truly mattered, and that meant more than words can express. A huge thank you also goes to Shawn U., the technician who repaired their vehicle. His workmanship was outstanding, and it was obvious that he takes great pride in his work. He fixed the vehicle correctly the first time, and it has been running perfectly ever since. Knowing their vehicle was repaired by someone so skilled gave my parents tremendous peace of mind before making the long trip home. Finding honest, trustworthy people when you’re far away from home can be incredibly difficult, but everyone at Skander Tire Service went above and beyond their expectations. They didn’t just repair a vehicle—they restored our family’s faith that there are still honest businesses that genuinely care about helping people instead of taking advantage of them. I wholeheartedly recommend Skander Tire Service to anyone looking for honest, reliable, and professional automotive service. Thank you, Ian, Shawn U., and the entire team for your kindness, exceptional work, and for helping my parents when they needed it most. Our family will never forget what you did for them.

Thanks for the great review! We're happy that the team could make the best of a bad situation and get your parents safely back on the road. We'll share your kind words with Ian and Shawn!

I got my tires done here last July as well as a few oil changes and everything was fine other than trying to upsell. This past time I went to get my oil changed I was told that my oil pan was leaking and would need a $700 repair. My car hadn’t been leaking oil so I was doubtful and told them not to do any work on it. I took it to another mechanic to get a second opinion and to no surprise at all, my oil pan was just fine. I have heard from multiple people around town about the dishonesty of this place and after this last visit I learned my lesson too.

Grace, we're sorry if your experience was different from what you expected, but we pulled the photos from your car's last visit with us, and we can confirm that an oil leak was found. As a commitment to honesty and transparency, we always document the condition of each vehicle that enters the shop. We can send the photographic report to you again if anything is unclear. Please contact us at sales@skandertire.com if you need any further assistance.
